Euplats: The Platypus-Folk
Appearance and Physical Characteristics:
Euplats have a humanoid build, but they possess the unique characteristics of a platypus: a leathery bill, webbed feet, sleek fur, and a flat tail. Both males and females have venomous spurs on their hind legs.
Culture and History:
Euplats are a semi-aquatic race, living along coastlines, rivers, and lakes. They are known as skilled fishers, swimmers, and divers. Their society places a high value on the harmony between land and water, and they often serve as mediators between aquatic and land-dwelling races.
Racial Traits:
Ability Score Increase: Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.
Age: Euplats mature at the same rate humans do and live for about 70 to 90 years.
Alignment: Most Euplats lean toward neutral alignments, valuing balance in all things.
Size: Euplats stand between 4.5 to 6 feet tall and have sturdy builds. Your size is Medium.
Speed: Your base walking speed is 30 feet, and you have a swimming speed of 30 feet.
Amphibious Breath: While you can't breathe underwater, you can hold your breath for up to 10 minutes at a time.
Venomous Spur: As an action, you can make a melee attack with your spur. On a hit, the target takes 1d4 piercing damage and must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). On a failed save, the target becomes poisoned for 1 minute. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses after you finish a long rest.
Electrolocation: Your bill allows you to detect minute electrical signals from living beings. You can accurately determine the location of any hidden or invisible creature within 10 feet of you.
Natural Swimmer: You have proficiency in the Athletics skill when making swimming checks.
Languages: You can speak, read, and write Common and Aquan.
