To live is to change. Immortality is boring, especially spending it reaping souls for Uldros. I loved every aspect of my purpose except for when I had to take them. I was a reluctant farmer, seeing my harvest as a tragedy rather than a gift. Their gods would take their mortal souls and would contain them forever in their afterlife. No longer would these souls change, no longer were they mortal. For some as well, they saw this as a curse stuck with themselves for all eternity, constantly having to look back on a life lost and seeking those mortal pleasures again.

It took one soul to change my mind and set me on this path, my Essie Esme. When I told her that she was going to the afterlife, she simply replied with a sad sigh, "oh, I wished I could've been a cat." So I obeyed. She was my first crop, and many were to follow. Now, it is not to say that some souls don't stay a bit longer than the others; Jeremiah has tended the fields while I am away since my second jaunt, Mayor Oben watches over the townsfolk since his predecessor's harvest, and Essie has gone with me on all 8 of my previous jaunts, with this one being her last.

To live is to change, and that's what I plan to do. With this one being her last, I plan to do things differently so her soul can be full entering into its next incarnation.
